Taking a Stroll

James has one tooth now (yes, still just the one!) and we have started the switch to whole milk. We were trying to only give him the milk in a sippy cup so we could also wean him from the bottle, but he is way too smart. With breakfast I would give him milk and since he was expecting juice he would take a couple sips. But after that, he would refuse to touch that color cup for the rest of the day because he knew that there was something different about it that he didn't like. So, we had to start mixing it with his formula. He is doing well with it though, so hopefully in another week or so we will be done with formula for good. James has become very independent since he started walking. He most certainly does not need you to hold his hand, and he gets frustrated when you try to help him. He loves walking around outside, but he quickly discovered that if you go around the house you can go down the driveway to the street. I can see that we are going to have to find a house with a fenced back yard, so that we don't end up with a baby on a ladder like when his Daddy was little.

I absolutely LOVE this first picture of James with Daddy. So different in size, but so much the same.

He is trying to get JJ to let go of his hand, but he is also cheesing for the camera...tough doing two things at once.

He is trying to run from JJ because he kept turning him around so he wouldn't go to the driveway.

Cowboy James

James received a gift in the mail from Grandma & Grandpa (my parents) the other day...His first cowboy hat. James has always been pretty good about wearing hats, so they said when they saw it they thought of him and had to buy it.

Exploring Mimi's Room

James was exploring Mimi & Poppy's room the other day. It's always fun watching him with new things.

He decided to go through Mimi's drawer full of scarves. Luckily for Daddy, he decided he liked the bandana instead of one of the silk 'girly' ones.

These hamsters sing & dance. He used to be afraid of them, but now he loves them, they make him laugh.

James' 1st Birthday in Shreveport

You may have noticed a theme between the 2 birthday parties, Mickey Mouse. James loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Disney...And he wanted to share his cake with Mickey.

I love the muscles flex! It even looks like he is sucking in his tummy to look 'swole', as Daddy would say!

He seemed to enjoy opening the gifts a little better this time, but it didn't last long. Once again, Mommy opened most of them.

James has always loved the water, but he seemed to have an especially good time. He went swimming twice, and then again after his cake for his 'bath'.

Poppy used Emily's wet hat to cool himself while grilling. He would kill me if he knew this was on here!

James is definitely blessed to have so many wonderful people in his life that love him so much! I have put over half of his new toys away for now (will rotate in a few weeks), and our living room floor is still covered! Thank you all so much for all the wonderful toys, books, movies, diapers,  and clothes. We cannot thank you all enough!

James' 1st Birthday in Kerrville

First off-sorry these took so long. These pictures are not from my camera, they are from a picture cd from Aunt Moozer, so, as you can see, I was having trouble adjusting them. I finally gave up and just posted my favorites. Sorry that some are sideways!

James stayed interested in his gifts for about 2.5 seconds, and then he kept trying to crawl away. Mommy opened most of them.

This Mickey Mouse Airplane was his favorite gift, and I was hoping it would be. He had been trying the whole week before to walk, and this airplane is what he needed. Within a few days of his party, he was walking independently all over the house...he now can RUN!!

James wasn't too interested in the cake either. But after a few tastes the sugar kicked in. Afterward he went straight to the tub.

Thank you all the wonderful gifts!
