Mudbug Madness!

Every year Shreveport hosts Mudbug Madness, a festival that was originally started to prove to those in South Louisiana, that Shreveport is just as cajun as the south is. (Shreveport is considered to be part of Texas). Anyway, we went for a few hours Friday afternoon before it got too busy, and we had a great time.

I really liked this first picture of James, and if you knew JJ or myself as babies, you would know that he gets his curls honestly. If you look closely, you can see what is left of his first shiner under his right eye, where he had a meeting with the coffee table.

James liked his Mudbug hat, but mainly because it was soft foam and it felt good on his gums. Notice that Poppy is holding his hands to keep him from pulling it off his head so I could take a picture.

Memorial Day weekend has always been very important to JJ & I. We met four years ago at a Crawfish Boil on Memorial Day that our dear friend Ashley Parker was hosting. So, going to Mudbug Madness was a very fun way for us to spend the day together and celebrate all that we have gained since we met!

James got his fingerprints done by the sheriff's department...and then he cut a rug with Mimi to the great live band! Notice how much fewer clothes he has from one picture to the next, needless to say the little guy was hot.

News with Us

James had his tubes put in yesterday morning, and everything went very smoothly. After we got him home and he had a nap, he was back to normal. Other news with us, JJ will be starting his new job June 2 at the Honda dealership, and I start at Calvary Baptist Daycare next Wednesday.

First Time in the Big Boy Pool

We took James swimming at Aunt Claire & Uncle Trae's apartment yesterday. He did not like the cold water, but he got used to it very quickly. He did not splash & play as much as we expected, but he was kicking his feet the whole time. He was tired because he does not nap well at their house, so he spent most of the hour we were out there just lounging and playing with his shoes.

Happy Mother's Day!

Childproofing the House

I bought some cabinet latches & outlet covers the other day since our little guy is becoming more & more curious every day. I had just opened the box of outlet covers when he found it and decided that he needed to help by dumping the box of 50 all over the floor and then immediately scattered them around.

James loves the camera. When he notices that you have it he tries to take it, which usually results in really goofy close up shots like this one.

He kept trying to put them in his mouth like a pacifier!

Update

James' surgery to have his tubes put in his ears is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21 at 7:30 am. I know this is a minor out patient surgery, but please keep him in your prayers over the next couple of weeks.

Mom in Hawaii

My mom arrived in Hawaii last Thursday, and I believe that today is her first day at work, so she had several days of seeing the sights and getting to know the island. She went to the car rental place and told them that she didn't care what she drove,  and to give her the cheapest car they had. They gave her a RED MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE!!! This is a picture she took of the ocean just around the corner from her house. You can check out more of her pictures if you visit her blog. www.blgarmon.blogspot.com.

Mommy's Little Helper

James loves it when I fold laundry. Especially when I shake out the clothes before I hang them up, it makes him laugh. Why that's funny, I have no idea, but he loves it. As you can see, he was helping me sort Daddy's socks, and adding his own personal touch to them as well.

ENT Specialist

James' pediatrician did give us a referral to an ENT specialist yesterday to discuss having tubes put in his ears. She said that she is pretty sure that this ear infection is partly due to his last one having never quite cleared up, and she was not happy with his progress after being on his antibiotics for 2 days already. His appointment is next Wednesday.

She has landed!

Well, my Mom landed in Hawaii yesterday around 7:30 pm Texas/Louisiana time. She said she took a few pictures, but was very tired from the trip, so she would get those to use this weekend probably.
