Trip to Dallas & Caleb's Wedding

We had a great time this weekend in Dallas. Our very good friend, Caleb, got married on Sunday. It was a beautiful ceremony at the Dallas Arboretum, with a great reception at Stratos Greek Restaurant. Believe it or not, it was actually the first time JJ & I had an entirely greek meal. It was great, we really liked it!

JJ was a groomsman.

Our very dear friends, Jimmy & Tori, who are expecting their first child.

James stayed with Aunt Rachael & Uncle Dan while we went to the wedding. They had a great time with him. He is pulling up on everything now, and he stood up in his crib for the first time this weekend too. He is getting very brave very quickly. He has let go a few times and kept his balance very well.

The Brodie family...Natasha, Caleb, & Kiya (I hope I spelled that right!)

Caleb and Kiya walked down the isle together. She is a beautiful young girl! She is 8 years old is so proud to have Caleb as her new Daddy! When Natasha & her father danced their 'father daughter dance', so did Caleb & Kiya! It was so sweet, it brought tears to my eyes!

Another Ear Infection

James was not feeling well most of the day yesterday, and when we got back from Dallas last night he had 102.5 fever. This morning he was feeling much better and his fever had gone down to 99.8. But, when he woke from his nap this evening, he had 104 fever, so we took him to the ER. They said he has another ear infection, and they recommended talking to his pediatrician about tubes, since this is his 3rd since February. We were definitely blessed tonight though. We were in and out of the hospital in less than 2 hours with prescription in hand. We gave him a bath, his meds, and a bottle, and he went right to sleep, and seemed to be feeling slightly better. We have to go back to the doctor either Thursday or Friday so his pediatrician can evaluate the situation and discuss tubes. We'll keep you posted.

Our Little Fish

James went swimming for the first time this afternoon. As you can see, he absolutely loved it! It is amazing how a pool from the dollar store can be so valuable!

He kept trying to lick the water!

New Doctor

James had an appointment yesterday with his new pediatrician, and we love her! She was so sweet and so good with him. And even though she had a waiting room full of patients, she was not rushed and took her time with him. She said that James has strep throat, and probably has for at least a week, which is why he hasn't been eating. I don't know how the doctor at the clinic last Thursday did not catch that, but...that's ok, because we finally have a doctor that we like that takes Medicaid. She also finally gave him a prescription for his excema, because everything we have tried has failed. And we finally have a name for the rash, but it didn't come from his doctor, it came from Cindy's. James has given her both his strep throat, and his 'hand, foot, and mouth disease'. Poor Cindy, she has caught everything he has had this year.

The Train

James loves this train that he got for Christmas, but he has really had fun with it since he has learned to crawl. He can play with it in the kitchen where it rolls around much better than it did on the carpet. After every meal he practically jumps out of your arms to get down to the floor to his train.

Play Date with 'Cousin' Emily

Emily is the daughter of some family friends, and JJ's parents are Gumpa Go (Grandpa Joe) & Cinny (Cindy) to her. She is 3 years old and good at it!

I believe this was right after James got a handful of pigtails a couple times. Needless to say, she was not pleased.

James did the same thing he did when playing with Hayden. He followed her everywhere she went, and by the time he made it to her, she would move on to something else. They were so cute though. It seemed very much like the baby brother tormenting the big sister!

More Kerrville Pictures

I did have some really cute pictures that involved James, Grandpa, & a bowl of ice cream, but they seemed to have disappeared from my camera!

James did so good on the drive down. Total time was about 10 hours because we left at 11 pm and drove while he was sleeping. We got in to Kerrville right around 9 am. The drive back was slightly longer since he was awake for most of it.

Viral Syndrome

So, we took James to the clinic today because his rash had spread even more, and some were blistered like chix pox. The doctor said he had 'viral syndrome' and gave him a prescription for an antihistamine. After looking it up online, I have concluded that the doctor did not know what it was, because 'viral syndrome' is a term for anything that causes fever, nausea, vomiting, and rashes. He also 'thinks' he is not contagious, but doesn't really know. Again, we were definitely blessed by being able to get James on Medicaid, but we would prefer to have real insurance so that we could have competent doctors for him.

Rough Week

James has had a tough time this past couple of weeks. It started out 1 1/2 weeks ago with what we thought was teething (that was a Saturday night). We took him to the doctor Monday afternoon because he had a stuffy nose and had vomited twice. Turned out it was another ear infection, and the doctor was not concerned about the vomiting (which I did not agree with). Anyway, thru out the past 1 1/2 weeks James has not wanted to eat, he isn't sleeping well, he has vomited a few more times, and now he has a rash. So, back to the doctor we go. We are going to take him to the clinic at 7 am tomorrow when they open so we don't have to wait too long. We were blessed with James being approved for Medicaid (neither JJ's or my jobs offer insurance) last month, but so far it is a HUGE hassle. I am still in the process of trying to find him a pediatrician that we like, since the doctor we were using does not take Medicaid...and we really like him!

Our New Family

This past Sunday, JJ, James, & I joined King's Highway Christian Church. We had been attending as visitors since December and we really liked it right away. Reverend Brice came over a few weeks ago so that we could all get to know one another and he could answer some of our questions. We had planned on joining every Sunday since then, but it just never worked out. Easter Sunday service ran long and JJ had to leave for work, then we were out of town, then James was sick and we didn't go at all. But... we finally got it! I have also been working in the nursery for the Contemporary Service (we go to the traditional so that JJ can make it to work on time) and during the week for the English Classes and other events. I have really enjoyed it and it has given me another way to make some extra income without having to worry about a baby sitter!
